Family Read is a research based learner centered literacy curriculum developed at the University of North Carolina in 1987. It focuses on parents, as the primary teachers of young children integrating adult literacy, early childhood literacy, parenting and parent/child interaction. The class incorporates reading, writing, listening and speaking and provides parents with the tools to use the stories weekly to teach their children.
